SEDIMENTARY FONT AND ARROW FONT
There are two fonts on this disk: (1) Sedimentary Font, which has symbols
for common sedimentary structures (troughs, ripples, etc.), fossils, and
other features (logs, carbonaceous debris, etc.) found in clastic
sedimentary rocks, and (2) Arrow Font, which has directional fonts in 5
degree intervals from 0 to 355 degrees and is intended for use on
stratigraphic columns as paleoflow indicators. The folder on this disk
labeled "Read Me Second" contains SuperPaint documents which list the
Sedimentary and Arrow Fonts and gives the keyboard equivalents of each font
and what the fonts look like. Each font comes in three sizes: 18, 24, and 36
point. There are two versions of each font: (1) Bitmap fonts which are used
in the Macintosh screen display and by ImageWriter printers, and (2)
PostScript fonts which are used by LaserWriter printers. Both the
Sedimentary Font and the Arrow Font are intended for use on the LaserWriter.
The bitmap fonts for the Sedimentary Fonts look fairly good but most Arrow
Font bitmaps look lousy on the ImageWriter and on the screen (but look good
when printed on the LaserPrinter).
To use these fonts you must do two things correctly: (1) use the Font/Da
Mover to load the bitmap fonts (contained in files which look like suitcases
with an"A" inside") onto your System file, and (2) load the PostScript fonts
into the System Folder by dragging the Post Script Font file (it looks like a
LaserWriter and has a "T") into your System Folder. Once the bitmaps
and PostScript fonts are loaded use these fonts as you would use any
letter/number font. ENJOY!
